Career Advising
For some medical students, choosing a career path to follow after medical school is daunting. Second-semester juniors are encouraged to self-assess for likes/dislikes, strengths/weaknesses, and general aptitudes. They are provided with access to the AAMC's Careers in Medicine website which has links to self-assessment tools. As the junior students are working through the process, clinical departments schedule an informational meeting between the months of January and February. Students are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible. These meetings are designed to help guide the student in their discipline and advisor choice.
Students select their advisors from the list provided by each department of the faculty who are interested and available to perform this important function.
The M4 Faculty Advisor Form is due to Karen Braswell, Mastin 202, by March 1, 2027.
